This prize-winning entry by Hyre Tejeci, who has reported on some of Kosovo’s most challenging and sensitive issues in the post-conflict period, presents the difficult circumstances of women from Kosovo who were raped during the war, a decade ago. It shows how society and families treat these women and highlights the lack of effort to integrate them back into society. The article compares their current situation compared to their circumstances immediately after the war, when Hyre met them for the first time. Hyre, who has worked for a journalist for more than seven years, has received several prizes for her articles written about the trials of adapting to life since the conflict with former-president Slobodan Milosevic’s regime.
