About us

Through its EuropeAid Development and Cooperation Directorate-General (DG EuropeAid), the European Commission has organised the Lorenzo Natali Prize as part of its efforts to promote development, human rights and democracy and help lift developing countries out of poverty.

DG EuropeAid is responsible for designing EU development policies and delivering aid through programmes and projects across the world. It incorporates the former Development and EuropeAid Directorates-General. Having one Directorate-General will simplify communication in the development field by acting as a single contact point for stakeholders inside and outside the EU to deal with. EuropeAid Development and Cooperation plays a leading role in the international debate for development involving donors, international institutions, developing and emerging countries and non state actors. DG EuropeAid delivers aid through a set of financial instruments and aims to ensure the quality of EU aid and its effectiveness. An active and proactive player in the development field, it promotes good governance, human and economic development and tackles universal issues, including the fight against hunger and the preservation of natural resources.
